CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team will play 23 games at the PC Baseball Complex and take on several of the region’s top teams for the 2015 season, head coach Elton Pollock said in announcing the season schedule on Tuesday.
“Every year we play one of the most challenging schedules in our league and this year will be no different, promising to be more challenging than any other,” said Pollock. “Our players were challenged mentally and physically on and off the field during our fall sessions. With these sessions now behind us, our attention is focused on the upcoming 2015 season. Our team captains have done a tremendous job this fall. We will rely heavily on their leadership as we prepare for a successful spring.”
The Blue Hose will host opponents familiar and new when PC welcomes teams like Delaware State (February 13-15), Holy Cross (February 28-March 2) and Western Carolina (March 10) as part of its nonconference schedule.
PC will also play three games at Greenville’s Fluor Field as part of the First Pitch Invitational against Indiana (February 20), Xavier (February 21) and Furman (February 22), as well as road clashes against South Carolina (April 14), Clemson (April 1), Georgia (February 24) and a series against Georgia Tech (May 2-3).
The 2015 campaign begins with a five-game homestand at the PC Baseball Complex. The Blue Hose host Delaware State (February 13-15) in a four-game series that includes a Valentine’s Day doubleheader before taking on Wofford on Wednesday, February 18.
PC next heads up I-385 for three games in Greenville at Fluor Field. PC takes on Indiana (February 20) and Xavier (February 21) before facing Furman in the teams’ only matchup of the year on Sunday, February 22. The team wraps up the road swing with a trip to Georgia on Tuesday, February 24.
Holy Cross visits PC for a three-game series that begins on Saturday, February 28 and runs until Monday, March 2. PC then heads to Wofford for the second and final game of the season series on Wednesday, March 4.
PC next heads to Davidson for three games from March 6-8. The Blue Hose play Richmond on March 6 and 8 and take on host Davidson on March 7.
The Blue Hose return for a four-game homestand, hosting Western Carolina on Tuesday, March 10 before a three-game set against Gardner-Webb (March 13-15) to open Big South Conference play.
The next nine games see PC away from home, beginning with a single game against Charlotte (March 18) and a three-game weekend set at UCF (March 20-22). The road swing rolls on with a game at USC Upstate (Tuesday, March 24) and a Big South weekend series at Liberty (March 27-29). The stretch comes to a close with a Wednesday, April 1 trip to Clemson.
PC will play 11 home games in April, starting with a Big South set against Campbell (April 2-4). The Blue Hose then take a single-game trip to Savannah State (Wednesday, April 8) and host UNC Asheville after for a League series (April 10-12).
The Blue Hose visit South Carolina on Tuesday, April 14 and return to host NC Central the next day on Wednesday, April 15.
Big South action resumes on the road at High Point (April 17-19) before four straight home games, beginning with USC Upstate’s return trip on Tuesday, April 21. The Blue Hose then close out their home slate with a Big South series against Coastal Carolina from April 24 to April 26.
Ten straight road games close out the regular season. PC visits Georgia Tech for two-day, three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 2 and a single game on May 3. PC then travels to NC Central (Tuesday, May 5) before a three-game series at Winthrop (May 8-10).
The regular season ends with four straight games in Charleston, first pitting PC against The Citadel (Tuesday, May 12) before a series at Charleston Southern (May 14-16).
The Big South Conference will hold its championship tournament from Tuesday, May 19 to Saturday, May 23.
