AUBURN – Auburn baseball will play 40 games against teams that participated in last season’s NCAA Baseball Tournament as part of its 2015 schedule as announced by head coach Sunny Golloway on Monday.

The Tigers’ 2015 slate features 36 home games, including 16 of its first 18 games of the season at Plainsman Park.

“We feel like this schedule allows us to work on things we need to early at home,” Golloway said. “We feel like it has some very competitive opponents and we think it allows the SEC portion to put the finishing touches for RPI purposes. I really like the way it sets up.”

The Tigers will open up the season in Plainsman Park Feb. 13-15 with three games against the 2014 America East champions Binghamton. Following a mid-week trip to South Alabama, Auburn welcomes Alabama State to The Plains to kick off a nine-game home stand that includes visits by Radford (Feb. 20-22), Alabama A&M (Feb. 25) and 2014 NCAA tournament participant Jacksonville State (Feb. 27-March 1).

On March 3, Auburn will face rival Alabama in the seventh annual MAX Capital City Classic at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery. The Tigers wrap up the pre-conference season with three games against Big East champion Xavier from March 6-8.

2015 will be a great year for Auburn fans throughout the state and the region to watch the Tigers as they will play in Montgomery and Mobile as well as two games in Birmingham, first against UAB at Regions Field (March 17) and then a visit to Samford (March 31).

The Tigers will also play the previously announced home and home series with long-time rival Georgia Tech, now scheduled for February 24 in Auburn and March 24 in Atlanta.

Auburn opens SEC play at Texas A&M (March 13-15), as well as making trips to Mississippi State (March 27-29), LSU (April 10-12), South Carolina (May 1-3) before closing the regular season at Florida (May 14-16).

Auburn hosts SEC series against 2014 NCAA champion Vanderbilt (March 20-22), Arkansas (April 3-5), Ole Miss (April 17-19), Georgia (April 23-25) and Alabama (May 8-10). The Tigers also host Samford (March 10), Georgia State (April 8), Alabama State (April 14), Florida A&M (April 21) and Morehead State (May 12) for single games.

“I like our schedule. I like the way it’s set up,” Golloway said. “The SEC is a very, very strong conference and it will take care of our RPI as we work our way through it. Then also to add the Georgia Tech series home and away back to the schedule is great for the team and the fans. We hope to add more series like the Georgia Tech series in the future.”
