CORPUS CHRISTI – Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Head Coach Scott Malone officially announced the 2015 Islanders Baseball schedule, which features a 32 games in the Coastal Bend. The team, loaded with upperclassmen is coming off a season in which it finished fourth in the Southland Conference with a record of 19-12 — while going 31-27 overall.
The Islanders will kick off the season at Chapman field with a three-game series against Saint Peters University Feb. 13-15 before hosting the Kleberg Bank College Classic.
Purdue, Missouri and Sam Houston State will make their way down to the Coastal Bend to compete in the Kleberg Bank College Classic which will be played at Whataburger Field in downtown Corpus Christi. The Islanders will see the first action of the tournament, as they will pair up with Southeastern Conference member Missouri on Feb. 19. A&M – Corpus Christi will matchup with the Boilermakers on Feb. 20 before facing the Tigers once again on Feb. 21. The Islanders will wrap up the Classic with a game against defending Southland Conference regular-season champion Sam Houston State Feb. 22.
A&M – Corpus Christi will play a four-game series at Chapman Field against nonconference opponent Texas – Arlington beginning Feb. 27 before a midweek matchup with UTSA on March 3.
After 12 games in the Coastal Bend to begin their season, the Islanders will hit the road for a three-game series with Conference-USA member Louisiana Tech March 6-8.
The Southland Conference season will begin with a road series at Nicholls State March 13-16. The Islanders will return home for two series’ as they play host to SLC tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana (March 20-23) and Stephen F. Austin (March 27-29).
A&M – Corpus Christi will make its way to Austin, Texas on Tuesday, March 31 as they take on the Longhorns. The team will then head to Beaumont, Texas for a meeting with Lamar (April 2-4), followed by a doubleheader against Texas-Pan American (April 7) in Edinburg, Texas. The Islanders will welcome Abilene Christian to Chapman Field for the three-game series April 10-12, followed by a Tuesday night matchup with Houston-Victoria April 14.
The squad will continue Southland play as they head to New Orleans for a three-game series with the Privateers (April 17-19). The Islanders continue action with their return game against the Roadrunners with a Tuesday night game in San Antonio (April 21) before heading home to host Northwestern State in a three-game series April 24-26. The Islanders will wrap up April with a doubleheader against Texas – Pan American on April 28 at Chapman Field.
A&M – Corpus Christi will close out conference play with a three-game series at Sam Houston State (May 1-3) followed by a trip to Incarnate Word (May 8-10) before closing out the regular season at home against Houston Baptist (May 14-16).
Central Arkansas will host the four-day 2015 SLC Tournament at Constellation Field in Sugarland, Texas beginning Tuesday, May 20.
The Islanders’ schedule currently stands at 55 games, not including the conference tournament.
