CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois University baseball team announced its schedule for the 2015 season. The schedule features a well-balanced slate of 28 home games and 27 road games. SIU will face three teams (TCU, Indiana State, and Dallas Baptist) that qualified for the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
The Salukis open the season with eight-straight road games, beginning Feb. 13 with a three-game series at TCU, which won the Big 12 tournament last season and advanced to the College World Series, plus trips to Ohio Valley Conference foes Austin Peay (Feb. 18), Eastern Kentucky (Feb. 20-22) and Murray State (Feb. 25).
Opening Day at SIU’s Richard “Itchy” Jones Stadium is set for Feb. 27, when Western Kentucky visits for a three-game series. The homestead continues with Arkansas State (Mar. 3) and Northern Illinois (Mar. 6-8).
Other highlights of the non-conference schedule include a three-game series at Illinois (Mar. 13-15), a single home game versus the Illini (April 28), a three-game home series against Central Arkansas (April 2-4), and a three-game road trip to St. John’s (May 14-16).
SIU opens conference play with a three-game series at home versus Wichita State (Mar. 20-22). The Salukis will also host Illinois State (April 17-19), Dallas Baptist (April 24-26) and Missouri State (May 8-10).
The 2015 MVC tournament is hosted by Wichita State and begins May 19.
