WASHINGTON – The George Washington baseball team will play 31 home games at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park as part of its 53-game regular season schedule and will host the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship, head coach Gregg Ritchie has announced.
The Colonials will play 14 of their first 16 games at home starting on February 14 when it hosts NJIT for a three-game series to open the 2015 season. GW will also welcome Georgetown (Feb. 18), Quinnipiac (Feb. 20-22), Niagra (Feb. 27-March 1), UMES (March 3) and Manhattan (March 7-8) during the first month of the season with a road trip to Virginia (Feb. 24) in between.
GW will travel west for four games in mid-March, visiting Long Beach State on March 11 before a three-game weekend series at Cal State Northridge (March 13-15). The games mark GW’s first contests in the Golden State since playing a three-game series at Pacific University in Stockton, California, during the 2000 season.
The Colonials return home for a non-conference game against Mount St. Mary’s on March 18 before opening Atlantic 10 Conference play at Saint Joseph’s (March 20-22).
Additional non-conference home games include Coppin State (March 24), Delaware State (March 25), UMBC (March 31), Towson (April 28) and William & Mary (March 14-15). GW will return visits to Mount St. Mary’s on April 1, UMBC on April 8, UMES on April 15, Towson on April 21 and Coppin Sate on April 29.
Atlantic 10 teams slated to visit Tucker Field in 2015 are St. Bonaventure (March 27-29), Dayton (April 10-12), Fordham (April 17-19) and Saint Louis (May 8-10).
Road A-10 series include Massachusetts (April 3-5), George Mason (April 24-26) and Rhode Island (May 1-3).
The 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship will be held at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park from May 20-24. It marks the first time in program history that the GW baseball program will host the A-10 Championship.
GW returns 23 players from last season’s squad, including Atlantic 10 All-Rookie selections Bobby Campbell and Joey Bartosic. The Colonials also welcome a group of nine freshman and two transfer students into the fold for the 2015 season.
