ORONO, Maine — Games at Clemson and the University of Florida highlight the 2015 University of Maine baseball scheduled, released on Thursday, Oct. 30. A competitive non-conference slate lead the Black Bears into the America East Conference schedule.
“We are really excited about the 2015 schedule,” said Maine head coach Steve Trimper. “We will be challenged right away against some of the top programs in the country. I feel that the competitive early schedule will really get us well prepared for America East play. We are very excited about this young talented team and we are anxious to see them tested against top competition.”
Maine opens the 2015 season with a four-game series against the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Feb. 13 – 15. The teams will play single games on Friday and Sunday with a doubleheader on Saturday. The games will be played in Winter Haven, Fla.
Maine then travels to Clemson for three games Feb. 20-22. The Black Bears then return to Winter Haven, Fla. where they play a four-game series with St. Bonaventure. Maine plays Bethune Cookman on March 4 before traveling to Gainsville, Fla. for a three games series against the University of Florida.
Maine plays in the RussMatt Tournament in Winter Haven, Fla. March 10-14. The opponents and game times will be released later for this tournament.
Maine swings into America East Conference play on March 21 at Hartford. The two teams will play the traditional America East format with a doubleheader the first day and a single game the following day.
Maine plays its home-opener when it welcomes the University at Albany on March 28 and 29. The Black Bears continue the homestand with Stony Brook on April 4 and 5 and Thomas College on April 7.
The Black Bears travels to UMass Lowell for games on April 11 and 12, before returning home to host UMPI and the University of Hartford.
Maine travels to George Mason on April 23 before traveling to Baltimore, Md. for a conference series with the UMBC Retrievers on April 25 and 26.
The Black Bears host UMF on April 28. Maine continues non-conference action at Lafayette on April 30 and NYIT for a four-game series May 1 – May 3.
The Black Bears play their final home series of the regular season when they host Binghamton on May 9-10. Maine then stops at Boston College on May 12, before finishing the 2015 regular season at Albany on May 15 and 16.
