TOLEDO, OH – UT head coach Cory Mee announced the 2015 baseball schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The Rockets will compete in 56 games including the Coastal Carolina Invitational on March 6-9.
The Invite will take place at TicketReturn.com Field, home of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, and CCU. Toledo opens the tournament with a showdown against Michigan State on March 6 and a matchup against Michigan the following day.
Other highlights of the Rockets’ slate will be a home-and-home series against Dayton (Home on March 18, away on April 14) and road contests against the Wolverines (March 31) and Spartans (April 21) along with contests against Ohio State (March 24) and Atlantic Coast Conference member Notre Dame (April 15). Toledo will also travel for a three game series’ with ACC foe Virginia Tech and American Conference member Cincinnati. The Rockets will open league play with Kent State on March 20 at Scott Park.
Toledo will its their 2015 campaign with a three-game set in Nashville, TN at Belmont. UT will open the season with a double header against Wright State and the Bruins on Feb. 14.
The Rockets will then travel to Rock Hill, SC for a weekend series with Winthrop beginning on Feb. 20 and then hit the road to Blacksburg, VA for a three-game set with the Hokies (Feb. 27-March 1).
The Rockets will wrap up their 18-game road trip with three games at Cincinnati on March 13 – 15 before returning to Scott Park for their home opener against Youngstown State on Tuesday, March 17.
UT will host four Mid-American Conference weekends in its 27-game league ledger consisting of the Golden Flashes, Central Michigan (April 2-5), Northern Illinois (April 17-19) and Miami (May 8-10). The Rockets will also entertain arch-rival Bowling Green in the second game of a home-and-home non-conference series on April 29.
The Midnight Blue & Gold will conclude its regular season with a three game series at Eastern Michigan (May 14-16) and the MAC tournament will begin on May 20 in Avon, OH.
Toledo is set to return 22 letterwinners from last year’s squad that finished with a 22-32 overall record and 11-16 conference record.
