WICHITA, Kan. – The 2015 Wichita State baseball schedule features 19 games against 2014 NCAA Tournament teams along with 30 home games, head coach Todd Butler announced Oct. 28.
“It will be a tough and challenging schedule with 19 games against NCAA Regional teams from a year ago, 15 of which are road games, and two College World Series participants,” Butler said. “We are excited to be hosting the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at Eck Stadium, which will keep our Shocker faithful involved throughout the season. The 2015 schedule will bring many challenges on the road and at home and we are looking forward to it.”
The Shockers begin the 2015 season on the road in Huntsville, Texas, as they take on 2014 NCAA Tournament team Sam Houston State, Feb. 13-15. WSU then travels to Tulsa, Okla., on Feb. 17 for a game with Oral Roberts before opening up the home portion of its schedule with four games.
Texas State comes to Eck Stadium for a three-game series, Feb. 20-22, and Nebraska-Omaha visits on Feb. 24. The Shockers next travel to 2014 NCAA Tournament participant Long Beach State, Feb. 27-March 1 before returning home for a 10-game home stand.
Central Michigan begins the home stand for three games, March 6-8, followed by Central Arkansas (March 10), Arkansas-Little Rock (March 11), UC Santa Barbara (March 13-15), and Western Illinois (March 17-18).
WSU opens up Missouri Valley Conference play and a seven-game road trip against Southern Illinois (March 20-22). The Shockers travel to 2014 NCAA Super Regional participant Oklahoma State on March 24 and finish the road trip with a three-game series at 2014 College World Series participant TCU (March 27-29).
WSU hosts 2014 NCAA Tournament team Kansas on April 1 and makes the return trip to Lawrence, Kan., on April 21. On April 3-5, 2014 NCAA Tourney team Indiana State visits Eck Stadium for a three-game series and on April 7 the Shockers travel to Austin, Texas to face 2014 College World Series participant Texas. It will be the first regular-season meeting with the Longhorns since 1982.
The final 2014 NCAA Tournament team on the schedule is Dallas Baptist and the Shockers travel to Dallas, May 14-16 to end the regular-season.
Other teams that will visit Eck Stadium in 2015 include Illinois State (April 10-12), New Mexico (April 24-26), Oklahoma (April 28), Kansas State (May 5), Evansville (May 8-10) and Oral Roberts (May 12).
Wichita State will also host the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament (May 19-23) for the first time since 2010.
