SPARTANBURG, SC – Wofford College announced the 2015 baseball schedule today, with 24 of the first 28 games of the season at home. A two-game road series against defending national champion Vanderbilt and trips to Clemson and South Carolina are also on the slate for head coach Todd Interdonato and his squad.
Last season, Wofford set the school record for wins with 32. The team also secured a winning record for the first time since 1992 and reached the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament for only the second time in school history.
The Terriers will play a total of 56 games, including 36 contests at Russell C. King Field on the Wofford campus. Southern Conference home series will be played against VMI, Mercer, Samford, and Furman. League road series include trips to Western Carolina, The Citadel, UNC Greensboro, and East Tennessee.
The season begins on Friday, February 13, against Boston College. The first two weekends are tournaments co-hosted by Wofford and USC Upstate. The Terriers will also face Xavier and Dayton in the first weekend, while taking on Pittsburgh, Miami (Ohio), and UNC Asheville the second weekend (February 20-22).
On February 24, the Terriers will visit Clemson, followed by a four game home series against Harvard (Feb. 27-March 1). A three-game series against Gardner-Webb will take place the weekend of March 6-8, with two of the games played at Wofford. The Terriers host Iona for a four-game series beginning March 13.
A two-game midweek series against Coppin State will be followed by the first Southern Conference series of the season beginning March 20 as VMI visits King Field for the first time since 2003. Wofford will host North Carolina Central for a weekend series from March 27-29.
The Terriers then begin a nine-game road trip with a two-game series against defending national champion Vanderbilt on March 31 and April 1. The road swing continues at Western Carolina (April 3-5), UNC Asheville (April 8), and The Citadel (April 10-12).
Wofford returns home on April 15 against USC Upstate, followed by a series against Southern Conference newcomer Mercer (April 17-19). After hosting Samford (April 24-26), the Terriers travel to UNC Greensboro (May 1-3). The final non-conference game of the year will be a trip to South Carolina on May 6.
A home series against Furman (May 8-10) will be followed by a road trip to East Tennessee State (May 15-16) to complete the regular season.
The Southern Conference Tournament will be held from May 19-24 at Riley Park in Charleston, South Carolina.
