LOS ANGELES – USC baseball has announced the team’s 2015 schedule, which boasts 24 out of 56 games against 11 different teams that made the 2014 NCAA postseason. In addition to the perennially tough Pac-12 slate, this year’s schedule includes games against three teams that made the 2014 College World Series, and a nonconference series against 2014 regional team Cal Poly.
Under the leadership of third-year head coach Dan Hubbs, the Trojans kick things off at Dedeaux Field on Friday, Feb. 13 as they welcome Towson for a three-game series.
The Trojans open the season playing 10 of their first 12 games at home, but have a busy schedule as they play nine games in 12 days to open things up.
“We are excited about this year’s schedule,” said Hubbs. I think we have a diverse schedule, playing teams from a bunch of different conferences. With the quality of our conference, along with games against Kentucky, Vanderbilt, TCU, Cal State Fullerton and Pepperdine, we feel this stacks up as one of the toughest schedules in the country. We are excited about the challenge.”
This year’s Dodgertown Classic is set for the weekend of March 6-8, with the Trojans hosting 2014 College World Series participant TCU on Friday, March 6 and 2014 NCAA champion Vanderbilt on Saturday, March 7, before facing crosstown rival UCLA in a nonconference game at Dodger Stadium on March 8.
The Trojans will have their hands full with the usual midweek competition, including home-and-homes against 2014 College World Series participant UC Irvine, super regional qualifier Pepperdine and regional qualifier Cal State Fullerton. NCAA regional participant Kentucky also makes a trip out west for a game on Thursday, Feb. 19.
A key nonconference series will start on Friday, March 20 as they host 2014 NCAA regional qualifier Cal Poly.
The Trojans open Pac-12 play at home on March 13, as they welcome Washington State to Dedeaux Field for a three-game series. They then go on the road for two-straight weekends, traveling to Washington (March 27-29) and Arizona (April 2-4).
A key home series will be April 10-12, as the Trojans look to defend home turf against crosstown rival UCLA. The Trojans also host Oregon (April 17-19), Stanford (May 8-10) and close out the regular season vs. Arizona State (May 22-24).
Other Pac-12 road series include at Oregon State (April 24-26), at Utah (May 1-3) and at California (May 16-18).
Overall the team is scheduled to play 32 games at home and 24 games on the road.
