FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Head Coach Bill Currier has announced the 2015 baseball schedule. The Stags’ slate will feature non-league opponents from the ACC, American Athletic Conference, Big East, the CAA, and the A-10. Fairfield will also host four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series at Alumni Diamond.
“We had tremendous success last season and we want to carry that momentum into this year,” Currier said. “We have some very tough non-league opponents to start the year, but that experience will help us as we make a run towards a return trip to the MAAC Tournament.”
Fairfield plays its first 14 games on the road beginning with a three-game series at Georgetown on starting on February 20. The Stags then travel to William & Mary for a three-game series beginning February 27.
Fairfield will spend Spring Break in the Sunshine State for eight games in eight days. The Stags play a three-game series at North Florida before traveling to Gainesville, Fla. for two games against the University of Florida. Fairfield closes out its stay with a three-game series at Central Florida.
The Stags open action at Alumni Diamond on March 17 when they host St. John’s. Other non-conference opponents include: Hofstra, Yale, Central Connecticut, Fordham, Sacred Heart, UMass, Stony Brook, NYIT, and NJIT. Fairfield will also have a three-game series at Pitt, April 24-26.
Fairfield is set to open MAAC play on April 21 against Manhattan at Alumni Diamond. The Manhattan series is the first of four MAAC series in which the Stags will host. Iona visits Alumni Diamond, April 3-4, while Saint Peter’s arrives May 2-3. The Stags close out the regular season, May 14-15, against defending MAAC Champion Siena. Fairfield and Siena battled it out in the 2014 MAAC Championship, with the Stags taking the first game before the Saints eliminated them later in the tournament.
Fairfield will have five MAAC road series at Canisius (March 28-29), Rider (April 11-12), Quinnipiac (April 18-19), and Marist (May 9-10).
Game times will be posted later this fall. All dates are subject to change.
Fairfield posted its best season in program history in 2014, finishing the year at 32-24 overall, 15-8 in league play, and appearing in the MAAC Baseball Tournament for the second time in three seasons.
