The NCAA recently released the 2014 NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletics Programs Report. Here are some of the key figures from the reports. These are the Median Numbers for the FBS, FCS, and Non-Football Schools for the 2013 fiscal year.
Generated Revenues | Expenses | Net Revenue | |
FBS | 363,000 | 1,490,000 | (-733,000) |
FCS | 88,000 | 634,000 | (-108,000) |
Non Football | 86,000 | 819,000 | (-22,000) |
As the numbers show, the cost of having a baseball program is a major loss for a university no matter what especially if it is a large football school. Remember, these are only median numbers so the averages are not available.
