Arkansas pitcher Chris Oliver was arrested for a Driving while Intoxicated in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Tuesday morning. Oliver was released from Washington County jail at 6:26 a.m. on $1,075 bond and has a July 11 court date. The student-athlete is only 20 years old and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.09 which is above the legal limit of 0.02 for someone under the age of 21. Head Coach Dave Van Horn told the Associated Press the following on the arrest “that type of behavior is certainly not accepted.”
Oliver is expected to be selected in this week’s MLB Draft and this arrest could change his draft stock as teams might hold it against him.
