Sam Houston State 9 Siena 2

FORT WORTH — Sam Houston State staved off elimination with a 9-2 win over Siena to reach a second NCAA Regional final in the last three seasons. The Bearkats (43-18) will get a rematch with TCU (44-15) Sunday at 7 p.m. If the Kats beat the Horned Frogs Sunday the two teams will meet again Monday night at 7 p.m.

“Our team all year has talked about the depth that we have and Coach (Pierce) preaches that it takes everybody and today was one of those days,” assistant coach Sean Allen said. “We started some guys that haven’t played every day and came up with some big hits. The pitching staff was great today. Sam Odom was great and Seth Holbert was lights out and gives us a chance tonight.”

The Bearkats took out some of their frustrations from the previous night with a five-run second inning.
