CORVALLIS, Ore. – Senior Ben Wetzler pitched a complete-game four-hitter and Oregon State eliminated UNLV 6-1 on Sunday to remain in contention for the Corvallis Regional title.

Wetzler struck out 10 and raised his record to 12-1 with his school-record 36th career victory. He is 8-0 with a 0.66 ERA in eight home starts and has not allowed more than two runs in any outing.

Oregon State 4 UC-Irvine 0

Senior Scott Schultz threw a two-hit shutout at UC Irvine as OSU (45-13) forced a deciding regional championship game at 8 p.m. today.

Junior Michael Conforto doubled off the outfield fence in the first inning to give Schultz all the runs needed. The Beavers added three runs in the third inning to give Schultz, usually the Beavers’ closer, a comfortable advantage. The game lasted two hours and four minutes.
