Long Beach State 5 UNC 4 (Suspended/7th inning)

Gainesville, Fla. – Long Beach State’s Michael Hill gave the Dirtbags a crucial advantage against North Carolina, hitting a sixth-inning home run to give Long Beach State a 5-4 lead in a rain-marred contest that was suspended in the 7th inning. Play will resume at Noon ET Monday.

Long Beach State jumped out to an early lead, as Garrett Hampson worked a walk against Tar Heels starter Zac Gallen, and Patron made him pay by pulling a home run to right field to spot the Dirtbags a two-run lead.

North Carolina answered back with a two-run homer of their own by Skye Bolt, and then took the lead in the third inning. With runners on the corners, Korey Dunbar dropped down a perfect suicide squeeze, as Alex Raburn came home just in front of the ball on a flip from Patron at first base.
