2014 Bloomington Regional: Day 3 Recap

Stanford 12 Youngstown State 4

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Stanford eliminated Youngstown State and stayed alive in the Bloomington Regional with an 12-4 win Sunday afternoon at Bart Kaufman Field. Brett Hanewich threw seven innings, while allowing one earned run on three hits, and Danny Diekroeger went 3-4 with three RBI to lead the Cardinal.

Stanford (32-24) moves on to tonight’s championship round against No. 4 national seed Indiana by ending Youngstown State’s season. The Penguins had won five of their last six, including the program’s first NCAA regional win Saturday against Indiana State.

Stanford 10 Indiana 7

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Wayne Taylor blasted a pinch-hit, three-run home run in the eighth inning to give Stanford a come-from-behind 10-7 win over Indiana Sunday night in the Bloomington Regional. The Cardinal forces a seventh and deciding game of the double-elimination regional tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Stanford (33-24) trailed the whole way, until Taylor’s two-out, go-ahead homer over the center field wall.
