The Stony Brook Seawolves used a 12 hit attack to defeat the Hartford Hawks 10-6 which advanced them to the America East Final on Saturday evening.

The Seawolves were led by Brandon McNitt on the mound who kept the Hawks hitters off-balance as he worked 6.2 innings giving up nine hits, while allowing three runs but striking out ten batters. McNitt tired in the seventh inning where he gave up three hits and two runs.

Kevin Courtney and Casey Baker led the offense with three RBI each while Kevin Krause chipped in with two on the evening.

Hartford starting pitcher Brian Hunter struggled giving up six runs (five earned) in only 6.1 innings. His biggest issue was allowing five walks and hitting a batter.

Hartford head coach Justin Blood talked about Hunter’s performance which dropped him to 4-8 on the year “We got what we have all season out of Brian. He has struggles keeping his focus out there on the mound and that is what he has been.”
