YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Heather Lyke announced today, May 21, that Head Baseball Coach Jay Alexander will not be renewed for the 2015 season.

Alexander spent six seasons at the helm of Eastern Michigan’s baseball program finishing with a 159-182 overall record and a 74-88 mark in Mid-American Conference play.

“I want to thank Coach Alexander for his leadership of our baseball program and the many contributions he made to the University, our community and specifically our student-athletes over the past six years,” said Lyke. “However, we feel it is time to go in a new direction for the baseball program.”

Before coming to Ypsilanti in 2008, Alexander was the head coach at Wayne State University for six seasons.

A national search will be conducted for the program’s fifth head coach.
