Florida State entered the season with Brandon Leibrant expected to lead the weekend rotation but he has been limited to only six starts with a 4-1 record and a 1.83 ERA.
The junior also is not interested in thinking worse-case scenario – that he may not pitch again this season.
Instead, Leibrandt, dressed in full uniform following FSU’s 8-3 home defeat to Central Florida on Tuesday, has remained positive as he continues to recover from a “freak accident” nearly two months ago that left him with a severe left bone/shin contusion and sidelined.
“I thought it was going to be one of those injuries that was, ‘Alright, it’s going to hurt, it’s going to bruise up, I will be out for a couple days.’ No big deal and I am not going to miss a start or anything,” Leibrandt said.
“But here we are, and it’s still giving me a little bit of a problem here and there. I haven’t been able to get enough (pressure) on it to get going.”
