Wagner freshman pitcher Nolan Long isn’t just succeeding on the diamond but is also a member of the basketball squad with the Seahawks. Long checks in at an impressive 6’10 while sporting a 95 MPH fastball. The Staten Island Live writer Cormac Gordon recently wrote:
In his first college appearance a couple of weeks back, the 6-foot-10 right-hander’s fastball was consistently popping at an MLB-worthy low-90s level against No. 5-ranked Cal Poly.
“They told me I hit 95 a couple of times,” he said.
On Tuesday, Long tossed a scoreless final 1Ò innings in a 4-1 win at Monmouth.
“I felt like I was throwing harder than I ever have,” he said of that relief appearance. “I’m not where I want to be right now, but I think I’m ready to start and go five or six innings if I can keep my pitch count down.”
