College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!
Number 8 on the countdown is Cal State Fullerton sophomore RHP Thomas Eshelman. The Carlsbad, California native attended Carlsbad High School. He was a three year varsity letter winner. In his senior season in 2012, he finished the season with a 4-3 record, 1.64 ERA and 76 strikeouts while batting .323 with two home runs. His junior season, he had a 6-3 record with an ERA of 1.78 and 63 strikeouts.
Eshelman had an outstanding freshman season with a 12-3 record and 1.48 ERA. He pitched in 115.2 innings while having a strikeout to walk ratio of 27.67 strikeouts to walks. He only allowed 0.23 walks per nine innings. He was a consensus first all-american while being named Freshman Pitcher of the Year by several different organizations.
