College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!
Number 11 on our countdown is Louisville junior Nick Burdi. The Downers Grove, Illinois native attended Downers Grove South High School. He was a three year letter winner which led to him being selected in the 24th round by the Minnesota Twins.
He decided to head to Louisville to continue his baseball career. As a freshman, he was 1-2 with a 5.56 ERA in 13 appearances, including three starts, totaling 22.2 innings.
Burdi had a breakout sophomore season which saw him become one of the top closers in the country. He went 3-3 with a 0.76 ERA while accumulating 16 saves. He struck out 62 batters in only 35.2 innings pitched. He was named a second Team All-American by NCBWA and All-Big East.
