College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2014 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be adding players day-by-day until we get to number one!
Number 20 on our countdown is UNLV junior RHP Erick Fedde from Las Vegas, Nevada where he attended Las Vegas High School. He was a three-year letter winner mainly as a pitcher, but also played in the outfield for the Wildcats. He had a career 14-8 overall record on the hill while being named second team all-state as a junior while being first team all-region honors as an outfielder and first team all-state honors as a pitcher as a senior. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 24th round of the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft but decided to head to UNLV.
As a freshman, he eent 6-5 with a 3.59 ERA in 15 starts. He recorded the most innings pitched (90.1), strikeouts (66), starts (15) and wins (6) on the Rebels staff while being named to the All-Mountain West Second Team and a Freshman All-American by Louisville Slugger.
Fedde’s sophomore season saw him tie for the team lead in starts as he went 7-3 with a 3.92 ERA in 96.1 innings. He played the summer with the USA Collegiate National Team.
