WICHITA, Kan. – The 2014 Wichita State baseball schedule features 16 games against 2013 NCAA Tournament teams along with 30 home games, head coach Todd Butler announced Jan. 9.
“We are playing an outstanding non-conference schedule,” Butler said. “The conference alone is going to be tough and I’m excited about it. We will continue to play the best non-conference schedule we can play. I also think it’s great that we are playing Missouri at Kauffman Stadium. I think it will be great for both fan bases, it will be fun for our players and we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the national championship team.”
The Shockers begin the 2014 season with four games at Eck Stadium. WSU opens up with SIU Edwardsville, Feb. 14-16, and then faces 2013 NCAA Tourney participant Central Arkansas on Feb. 18.
WSU hits the road for the Baseball at the Beach Tournament, Feb. 21-24, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Shockers will face three 2013 NCAA Tourney teams including Connecticut, Illinois and host Coastal Carolina. George Mason is also in the tournament.
The Shockers return home to face Long Beach State for three games, Feb. 28-March 2, and then travel to Tulsa, Okla., to face Oral Roberts on March 4. The Golden Eagles return the trip to Wichita on April 15.
After a three-game series in Wichita with Stephen F. Austin, March 7-9, the Shockers play six-straight on the road against 2013 NCAA Tourney teams. WSU takes on Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla., on March 11 and then plays a three-game series at UC Santa Barbara, March 14-16. The road trip ends with a two-game series at Arizona State, March 18-19.
WSU opens up Missouri Valley Conference play and a seven-game home stand against Missouri State (March 21-23). The Shockers host Nebraska on March 25 and finish the home stand with a three-game series against 2013 NCAA Super Regional participant and 2014 preseason No. 1 Cal State Fullerton (March 28-30).
The final three games against 2013 NCAA Tourney teams are April 8 at Kansas State, April 30 against Oklahoma State in Wichita and May 6 against the Wildcats at Eck Stadium.
Other highlights of the schedule include playing Missouri at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on April 22 and a three-game series at Tulane (April 25-27). Wichita State will celebrate the 25-Year Anniversary of the National Championship team on April 22 at Kauffman Stadium.
Other teams that will visit Eck Stadium in 2014 include Southern Illinois (April 18-20), Kansas (April 29), Bradley (May 2-4) and Dallas Baptist (May 9-11).
Wichita State will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., for the 2014 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at Bob Warn Field, May 20-24.

They play a harder sched than I thought . What’s their pre season ranking? Must be a ‘hopeful’ , pre-season team.
