We continue the countdown today with number 58, Temple RHP Adam Dian. In his sophomore campaign with the Owls, Dian appeared in 11 games, allowing only 17 hits and six walks. The right-hander pitched 19.1 innings and posted a 2.65 ERA with 19 strikeouts. With potential to play at the next level, Dian has a solid pitchers build standing at 6’4” 225 pounds. His power arm has him on many people’s watch lists as the 2014 season approaches.
The Gibsonia, PA native attended Vincentian Academy where he went 5-1 with 69 strikeouts as a senior. Dian was a candidate for Pitcher of the year and was named Pitcher of the Game in the WPEAL All-Star Game. The right-hander thrived as a starter at Vincentian earning All-Section WPEAL Pitcher three times over his prep career but would later find comfort in the bullpen for the Owls.
During the 2013 summer, Dian spent his time as a member of the Waterloo Bucks in the always competitive Northwoods League. The Bucks finished with a 51-19 record which was the best record in the league. The right-handed reliever went 2-0 with an impressive 0.35 ERA and led the squad with eight saves. During his 23 appearances, Dian racked up 48 strikeouts in 26 innings holding opponents to a .144 batting average.
Dian returns to Temple for his junior season and looks to bring a winning season back to the Owls in 2014.
