We continue the countdown today with number 66, Liberty RHP/OF Ashton Perritt. In his sophomore campaign with the Flames, Perritt was able to post impressive numbers both at the plate and on the mound. In the batter’s box the right-hander had 172 at bats and in that time batted to a .343 average. The talented outfielder appeared in 40 games and collected 59 hits with 6 homeruns and 17 RBI. On the mound, Perritt was equally as impressive posting a 3-2 record with a 2.09 ERA. In 22 appearances, Perritt had 38.2 IP with 37 strikeouts and 10 saves which ranks second on Liberty’s all-time single season save list.
The Whiteland, Indiana native attended Whiteland Community High School where he was a three time All-County and Conference player of the year. He also earned Johnson County Player of the year in 2010 and 2011.
Perritt spent his 2013 summer playing the outfield for the Licking County Settlers in the Great Lakes League. The rising Liberty junior finished the regular season with a league leading .355 average. The outfielder was selected to the North All-Star team and was named the Ron Miller Top Position Prospect for the Great Lakes League. The utility player was voted the 2013 Big South Tournament MVP and was later named to the VaSID All-State team. Perritt returns to Liberty for his junior season and looks to lead the Flames on another Big South title run in 2014.
