We continue the countdown today with number 77, Fresno State pitcher Garrett Mundell. In his sophomore season with the Bulldogs, Mundell made 26 appearances finishing the season 1-5 with a 4.53 ERA in 43.2 innings pitched. His 48 strikeouts were good for 3rd on the staff and he was named to the 2013 Academic All-Mountain West team. Mundell earned his only win of the season against a talented Air Force squad.
The Lake Forest, CA native attended El Toro High School where he was selected to the First-Team All-South Coast League after finishing 9-0 with a 1.38 ERA. Mundell was also a member of the New York Yankees scout team (2010) in Southern California as well as participated in the Rawlings Elite baseball series at UCLA. The right-hander has seen success throughout High School as well as his first two seasons at Fresno State and his 2013 summer was no different.
Garrett Mundell took his talents to Alaska as he took the mound for the Anchorage Bucs in the ABL. The Alaskan league is considered one of the top leagues in the nation and the Midnight Sun Game has been one of the top highlights during the ABL season. During his time with the Bucs, Mundell went 4-1 and pitched to a league leading 0.63 ERA. He was selected to the 2013 Alaska Baseball League All-Star Game and named the ABL Pitcher of the Year.
Mundell returns to the Bulldogs for his junior season as he hopes to continue finding success on the mound.
