WEST POINT, N.Y. – Fifty-two regular season games, including 21 at Doubleday Field at Johnson Stadium, highlight the 2014 Army baseball schedule, announced today by interim head coach Matt Reid.
The Black Knights won the 2013 Patriot League Championship Series and advanced to the NCAA Tournament and will begin their quest for another league title and national appearance on February 14 against William and Mary.
Army will play 17 road contests and 14 neutral site match-ups, including the WPDH Hudson Valley Baseball Classic against Marist and eight games in Tampa, Fla., during the team’s annual spring break trip.
“Our guys will be tested each and every time out,” said Reid. “Our non-conference games are all a challenge and we know how tough Patriot League play is. The hope is that this schedule prepares us to be playing our best baseball in May.”
Army will kick-off the 2014 season Feb. 14-16 with three games at William and Mary before traveling to the USA Baseball Complex to compete against the University of Massachusetts for three games (Feb. 22-23)
The Black Knights will play Towson and Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C. (Feb. 28-March 2) and then host Wagner on March 8 and 9 in the first home games of the season.
Army then makes the trek to Tampa for games against UMass (March 15-16), Central Connecticut State (March 18), Connecticut (March 18) and Harvard (March 21-22). Army will play at Tampa Jesuit High School and the New York Yankees Spring Training Complex.
The Black Knights return from Florida and play non-conference games at Siena (March 25) and at home against Columbia (March 26).
Army begins its league schedule with three straight weekends of home games. Lehigh (March 29-3), Lafayette (April 5-6) and Bucknell (April 12-13) all visit West Point, N.Y., for league games.
Army will host Fairleigh Dickinson (April 1), play at Fordham (April 9) and travel to Hartford (April 16) for mid-week non-conference games.
The Black Knights play road league series’ at Holy Cross (April 19-20) and at Navy (April 26-27).
Army and Marist will compete in the WPDH Hudson Valley Baseball Classic at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, N.Y. on Wednesday, April 23.
The Black Knights will close the regular season with Cincinnati in a three-game home series with games scheduled for May 2-4.
The Patriot League semifinals series are scheduled for May 10-11, while the Patriot League Championship Series will be May 17-18.
The winner of the Patriot League Championship Series earns a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
The 2014 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship bracket will be announced May 26.
