FORT WORTH – TCU head coach Jim Schlossnagle released the 2014 baseball schedule. The 55-game slate features 31 home contests and 24 games away from home. The Horned Frogs will play 14 contests against 2013 postseason squads.
Schlossnagle’s 11th season will get underway on Feb. 14 as the Frogs will play the first four contests of the campaign at Lupton Stadium. TCU will host Jacksonville in its season-opening series Feb. 14-17. The homestand concludes with Northern Colorado on Feb. 18.
TCU will hit the road for six out of the next seven games beginning Feb. 21. The Frogs will take part in the Kleberg Bank College Classic, hosted by Texas A&M Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Hooks. TCU will renew rivalries with BYU in the opening game of the Classic on Feb. 21 before taking on the host school, TAMU-CC, on Saturday. The tournament will conclude with a meeting against 2013 NCAA Regional participant, UTSA on Feb. 23.
A brief stop back at Lupton on Feb. 25 will see TCU face UT Arlington for the first of three meetings throughout the season.
The Frogs will head south for the second straight weekend to take part in another tournament beginning Feb. 28. TCU will participate in the Houston College Classic for the first time since 2010 and for the third time under the direction of Schlossnagle. The Frogs will take on NCAA Regional Participant Sam Houston State in their opening contest. Game two of the tournament will see TCU take on 2013 NCAA Super Regional participant, Rice. The Frogs will wrap up play in the Classic against Houston on Sunday night.
TCU begins a stretch of 12 out of 14 games at Lupton Stadium on March 4 against Dallas Baptist. A three-game series against Michigan State begins March 7 followed by a midweek trip to Houston for a second meeting with Rice to break up the homestand. The Frogs return home for a three-game series against Dartmouth March 14-16.
A non-conference match-up against 2013 NCAA Super Regional participant Oklahoma in Norman is set for March 18 and leads into the opening weekend of Big 12 play. TCU will kick off league play when it hosts Texas Tech beginning March 21. The five-game homestand concludes with a two-game midweek series against UT Pan American March 25-26.
The Frogs will hit the road for four straight when they head to Oklahoma State March 28 for a three-game series. The road trip concludes with a cross-town trip to Arlington for the second meeting against UT Arlington.
A brief three-game series against West Virginia April 4-6 leads into a road swing that will see the Frogs play eight of nine away from Lupton Stadium. The road trip begins April 8 at Dallas Baptist. TCU will then head to Kansas for a three game series against the Jayhawks April 11-13.
TCU will return home April 15 for a contest against Houston Baptist before heading out on the road again for a three-game series at Texas April 17-19. The road trip concludes with a non-conference meeting against Texas Tech in Abilene on April 22.
The Frogs will play 10 of the final 14 regular season games at Lupton Stadium beginning April 25 when TCU welcomes Cal State Northridge for a three game series. A trip south to take on Stephen F. Austin on April 29 breaks up the homestand.
TCU will host back-to-back Big 12 series beginning May 2 against Kansas State. The season-long seven-game homestand continues with a three game series against Oklahoma May 9-11 and concludes with a May 13 meeting against UT Arlington.
The 2014 regular season will come to a close with a three game series at Baylor May 15-17.
The Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Tournament is slated to begin May 21 and run through May 25. The tournament returns to the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
