Air Force releases 2014 Schedule

MikeKazlauskyAirForce.jpgUSAF ACADEMY, Colo.- Air Force baseball released its 2014 schedule, announced today by head coach Mike Kazlausky. The 54-game slate features 18 home games. The Falcons will play in nine different states and against four teams that played in the 2013 NCAA Baseball Tournament Regionals.

Air Force is slated to play one of its toughest schedules ever, with the team playing opponents from the Pac 12, Big 10 and Big 12 conferences. The Falcons will play games against Regional qualifiers South Dakota State, New Mexico and San Diego State and Super Regional qualifier Kansas State.

The season opens Feb. 14-16 in San Marcos, Texas, where the Falcons take on Washington (Feb. 14), Michigan (Feb. 15) and host Texas State (March 16). The following weekend, the Falcons play service academy rival Navy for four games in three days at the Freedom Classic, Feb. 21-23, in Kinston, N.C.

The Falcons will play nine non-conference games in March, starting with a two-game trip (March 11-12) to 2012 NCAA College World Series Champion Arizona. The Falcons also play a three-game set at Nebraska-Omaha (March 14-16), followed by two games at Kansas State (March 18-19). Air Force also plays two games at Sacramento State (March 25-26).

Air Force’s remaining non-conference schedule features four April games with Northern Colorado, a three-game series at South Dakota State and a home game with New Mexico State. The Falcons will host UNC on April 1 and April 22 and play at UNC April 9 and 29. The South Dakota State series is April 11-13 and the NMSU home game is April 8.

The Mountain West will feature a 30-game season, with the Falcons playing home/away series with Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico and UNLV. The Falcons will play one three-game series with San Diego State and San Jose State.

Air Force opens conference play early, with a three-game set Feb. 28-March 2 at UNLV. The Falcons will play the home series with the Rebels April 17-19. The Falcons host Fresno State March 7-9, with the return trip to Fresno April 25-27. Air Force’s home/away series with New Mexico has the Falcons hosting the Lobos April, 28-30 and traveling to UNM to close out the regular season May 15-17. The final home-way series is with Nevada. The Falcons head to Reno, Nev., March 21-23 and host the Wolf Pack May 2-4.

The Falcons will play a three-game set at San Diego State April 4-6 and host new conference member San Jose State May 9-11.

All seven teams will participate in the 2014 MW Championship Tournament, which runs May 21-26 in Las Vegas.
