College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2014 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today at number 99 with UNC Greensboro junior RHP Max Povse from Green Hope High School and Cary, North Carolina. He was a four varsity letterwinner at Green Hope High School and was drafted in the 42nd round selection by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft where he won all-conference honors as a senior. He set a new school record by striking out 18 batters in just eight innings against Middle Creek.
As a freshman in 2012, he earned a starting spot in the Spartans weekend rotation pitching in a total of 15 games (14 starts) with 57.2 innings pitched.
His sophomore season in 2013 saw him move into the Friday night starter role making a team high 14 appearances while accumlating a 4-4 record and 4.75 ERA over 77.2 innings. He struck out a team high 81 batters while opponents hit just .248 against him.
He spent the summer of 2013 in the Valley Baseball League with Strasburg. He pitched in 54 innings with a 3.17 ERA with 60 strikeouts and just 12 walks.

This past summer, Max played for the Staunton Braves in the Valley Baseball League, not Strasburg. We are proud of Max and the way he represented our organization.
