BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University Baseball (48-14) is headed to the College World Series after completing a Super Regionals sweep over #7-seed Florida State (47-17). The Hoosiers topped FSU , 11-6, to become the first Big Ten school advancing to Omaha since 1984 (Michigan).
Freshman Will Coursen-Carr (5-0) earned the win on the mound, just as he did in the clinching victories of the Big Ten Tournament and NCAA Regional in his last two starts. To close out the Supers, Coursen-Carr delivered 4.0 stellar innings out of the bullpen giving up just one earned run.
Indiana sent eight batters to the plate in the first inning, banging out four runs on four hits to jump on top early. Will Nolden drew an 8-pitch walk to jolt the big inning. He scooted over to third via Kyle Schwarber’s single through the right side. Both tagged on the very next pitch, a sacrifice fly from Sam Travis to deep center field. The hits kept coming as Scott Donley and Michael Basil each followed by stroking RBI-doubles. With two outs on the board Casey Smith stretched the IU lead out further to 4-0, driving in Basil on a line drive into shallow center field.
