The reigning SEC Tournament Champion Mississippi State Bulldogs are making another run at it. The Bulldogs secured themselves a spot in one of Saturday’s games with a 6-4 win over Texas A&M. Mississippi State is 3-0 so far in the 2013 SEC Tournament having already beaten Missouri, South Carolina and now Texas A&M.

Texas A&M who entered the tournament as the nine-seed has had an excellent start to the SEC Tournament as they aim to continue play in Hoover while also proving to the NCAA selection committee that they are worthy of an NCAA tournament bid. So far the Aggies have defeated Florida and top-ranked Vanderbilt before falling to Mississippi State on Thursday evening.

Hot at the Plate

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were hot at the plate during Thursday evening’s win over Texas A&M combining for six runs off of ten hits including four by lead-off man, shortstop Adam Frazier. Frazier was 4-for-5 on the night with two runs and an RBI. Also with an excellent night at the plate was second baseman Brett Pirtle who was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Despite the loss, Texas A&M’s Hunter Melton continued with his red-hot week at the plate going2-for-4 with an RBI for the Aggies.

Moving Forward

While Mississippi State has secured an off-day on Friday, Texas A&M will face top-seeded Vanderbilt yet again in hope of spoiling the Dores’ tournament chances in the elimination game. Mississippi State will face the winner on Saturday afternoon following the 12:00 game between Arkansas and the winner of the LSU/Alabama game.
