sec_baseball_13The Alabama Crimson Tide sent the Tigers packing on Tuesday afternoon as they defeated Auburn 6-3 in the single-elimination SEC Tournament game. Ben Moore, Austen Smith and Brett Booth all had multiple-hits for the Crimson Tide, combining for three of Alabama’s RBI and four of their runs. On the mound, Jay Shaw was lights-out for Alabama as he pitched 5.0 scoreless innings allowing just four hits and a walk.

Auburn led Alabama for most of the game until a three-run bottom of the eighth by the Crimson Tide put the Tigers behind for good. The Tigers’ loss put their record at 33-23 as Alabama improved to 33-24 on the year. Alabama will face LSU on Wednesday morning following the Arkansas/Ole Miss game that is set to take place at 9:30 a.m.

When Alabama and LSU faced off in conference play earlier this year, the Tigers took the series, winning two of the three games.

Final Score: Auburn 3 – Alabama 6

Winning Pitcher: Jay Shaw, Alabama (5.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO)
