CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2013 Harvard baseball schedule has been released and is available for viewing. First-year head coach Bill Decker and the Crimson will play a 40-game regular season schedule beginning March 1.
The Crimson opens play the weekend of March 1-3, playing four games in Charlottesville, Va. with two against the host University of Virginia and two against Bucknell.
The following weekend sees the team travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Harvard will play single games against Ohio State (March 8), Coastal Carolina (March 9) and Ball State (March 10).
March 15 sees the team back in the air as Harvard travels to Texas for 10 games in nine days starting with a three-game set against Rice March 15-17. On the 18th, Harvard plays at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before playing a doubleheader at McNeese State on March 19. The following day, March 20, sees the team play a single game at the University of Houston before a day off. Harvard finishes its trip with single games over three days at Houston Baptist March 22-24.
Once back north, Harvard plays its home opener March 27 against in-state rival Holy Cross.
The Crimson begins Ivy League play against the Gehrig Division on the road March 30-31 with twinbills at Columbia and Penn, respectively.
After a midweek game at Boston College on April 2, the Crimson hosts Gehrig Division foes Cornell and Princeton, respectively, April 6-7.
Harvard will once again compete in the annual Beanpot Tournament with Boston College, Northeastern and Massachusetts. Dates for those games are currently April 10 and 29. Harvard takes on Northeastern in the first round in a rematch of last year’s championship game at a location to be announced.
On April 13-14, Harvard hosts a four-game weekend set against Yale before traveling to Brown for a four-game weekend series April 20-21.
A home-and-home doubleheader series against Dartmouth begins in Hanover, N.H. on April 27 before moving back down to Cambridge the following day.
The Ivy League championship series is slated for May 4-5 at the site of the higher seeded team. NCAA Tournament play begins May 31.
