CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team will play 18 games at the PC Baseball Complex and battle some of the East Coast’s top programs, head coach Elton Pollock has announced in releasing the season schedule.
“Our upcoming 2013 baseball schedule will prove to be our greatest challenge yet,” said Pollock. “My primary objective was to create a schedule that would challenge our kids and heighten our focus on a daily basis in preparation for a rigorous conference schedule. Our ultimate goal is to make the post-season with a shot at the Big South Conference championship. This message has been communicated to my players and assistant coaches since day one of the fall semester. We are locked-in, ready to go, and up for the challenge.”
Highlights of the 56-game schedule include contests against South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Florida State and Georgia in addition to three-game series against NC State and Connecticut. The series against UConn features a matchup between the Huskies and Blue Hose at Fluor Field in Greenville on March 16.
This season, PC will play in the Big South Conference’s newly-created South Division. Big South baseball teams will utilize a 24-game, two division schedule format for the 2013 season. The 12 teams will play a 3-game series against five teams in the same division and three in the other division based on the final 2012 Conference standings. Eight teams will advance to the Conference Championship and will play in double-elimination brackets leading up to the “winner-take-all” championship game.
The 2013 campaign begins with nine straight games on the road, beginning with a season-opening four-game series at Savannah State University that begins on February 15. A road game against USC Upstate (February 20) and a weekend series at NC Central (2/22) await the Blue Hose next before a neutral site tilt against Wofford in Forest City, N.C., on February 26.

The middle game takes place at Fluor Field before the teams return to the PC Baseball Complex on March 20. Wofford then comes to Laurens County for the final meeting between the two sides on March 20.
Winthrop, UNC Charlotte (at home on March 26) and Furman appear on the schedule, with the Paladins and Blue Hose alternating venues in a series that features a March 29 game at PC.
