SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Looking to build on last season’s 26 wins, Santa Clara baseball released its 2013 schedule today. With Bronco head coach Dan O’Brien entering his second season at the helm for the Broncos, Santa Clara is changing game-day times.

O’Brien is changing the traditional start times of 7 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday to a 6 p.m. start on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday in an attempt to allow more people to make it out to Schott Stadium for games.

“I’m excited about our scheduling this year,” said O’Brien. “This year’s line-up includes games that were set-up prior to our arrival, but Coach Ribas did a great job rounding it out and continues to develop great relationships throughout the country to ensure a competitive and compelling schedule for years to come.”

Santa Clara opens the season at home vs. Seattle University on Fri., Feb., 15 at 6 p.m. in the first game of a three game set. On Tue., Feb. 26 and Wed., Feb. 27 the Broncos will host San Diego State who is coached by Major League Baseball Hall of Fame outfielder Tony Gwynn and the alma mater of current big leaguer Stephen Strasburg of the Washington Nationals.

The first road game of the season for the Broncos will be Sat., March 9 at San Jose State at 1 p.m., the 15th game of the season. The first time Santa Clara has to travel for a road game is the WCC-opener at Pepperdine on Sat., March 23.

Santa Clara will play twice each vs. Stanford, UC Davis and Cal Poly with a home-home scheduled with each team. Santa Clara will also travel to Cincinnati May 10-12 for three games.

After opening conference play at Pepperdine March 23-25, Santa Clara will host BYU in the conference home-opener April 4-6. San Francisco, San Diego and Gonzaga will visit the Mission campus while Santa Clara will travel to Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary’s and LMU.
