PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University baseball team is scheduled to play 30 home games in 2013, including 26 at Bailey-Brayton Field, Cougar Head Coach Donnie Marbut announced, Thursday.
Washington State will host Pac-12 series against Stanford (March 28-30), Arizona (April 12-14), UCLA (April 26-28) and Oregon (May 3-5) in Pullman and Washington (May 17-19) in Pasco, Wash., home of the Tri-City Dust Devils. In addition, the Cougars will play an exhibition game against MLB’s San Francisco Giants (March 12) in Scottsdale, Ariz.
“Our nonconference schedule has good balance,” Marbut said. “We will travel out of our region twice and have 14 games at Bailey-Brayton. The chance to play a Major League team is a tremendous opportunity for our guys. The Pac-12 schedule is always tough and we will have some quality opponents coming into Pullman. We are excited to be playing four games toward the end of the season in Pasco so we can bring Cougar baseball to our fans in the Tri-Cities.”
Washington State opens its season with a three-game series at Western Carolina (Feb. 15-17). The Cougars’ first home weekend is four games slated for Feb. 22-24 against Eastern Michigan. Cal State Northridge comes to Pullman for a four-game set, Feb. 28-March 3.
A spring break trip opens with Washington State visiting the Alamo for four games at UTSA (March 8-10). Following the exhibition game against the Giants, the Cougars begin Pac-12 play with a series at Arizona State (March 15-17).
A nine-game homestand follows with bookend meetings against Gonzaga (March 19 and April 2). The stretch includes a four-game series with Brown (March 22-24) and the Cardinal’s visit.
The Cougars then travel to the Beehive State for a Pac-12 series at Utah (April 5-7) and a nonconference game at BYU (April 8). Following the series against Arizona, Washington State is back on the road for a game at Gonzaga (April 16) and a series at California (April 19-21).
Washington State will play five-straight games away from home with stops at Portland (May 6), USC (May 10-12) and UC Santa Barbara (May 13).
In addition to the series against the Huskies, the Cougars will host Portland in Pasco (May 20) before concluding their regular season at Oregon State (May 24-26).
