GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG baseball team will play 32 games at home, including 19 of the first 21, as part of its 2013 schedule released in its entirety Wednesday by school officials. The Spartans will also face cross-town rival North Carolina A&T March 28 at Newbridge Bank Park – home of the South Atlantic League’s Greensboro Grasshoppers.
The schedule features 11 contests against teams that qualified for the NCAA Regionals in 2012, including NC State which advanced to a Super Regional. Samford was selected to the Tallahassee Regional while College of Charleston, East Carolina and defending SoCon champion Appalachian State participated in the Atlanta, Chapel Hill and Charlottesville Regionals respectively.
“The schedule sets up well for our team this year,” head coach Link Jarrett said. “We are playing five teams that qualified for a NCAA regional last season and have nine different leagues represented in nonconference play. One of our goals is to provide Spartan fans with high quality, exciting baseball to watch and our schedule goes a long way in doing that.”
