RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada head baseball coach Gary Powers announced the 2013 Wolf Pack baseball schedule today. After earning a share of the 2012 Western Athletic Conference title the Wolf Pack makes the move to the Mountain West this season.

“The 2013 schedule will be demanding and we are excited about the move to the Mountain West,” said Powers. “The chance to play different teams and the 26 homes games gives our fans an opportunity to watch a good Nevada team that returns several veterans.”

The 2013 schedule features 26 homes games at Peccole Park, where the Pack went 21-10 last season.

The season gets underway on Feb. 15 in Mesa, Ariz. at Hohokam Stadium against Kansas. The Pack and Jayhawks will play a four-game series to begin the season. Nevada returns home to host Northern Illinois for a three-game series Feb. 22-24. After a single Tuesday road game at Sacramento State the month of March gets underway with a three-game home series with Holy Cross.

Five consecutive road games follow beginning with a Tuesday game at Pacific, a three-game weekend series at Utah Valley and another single game at UC Davis.

The 30-game MW schedule has the Pack playing three-game home-and-home series with each conference school; Air Force, Fresno State, New Mexico, San Diego State and UNLV.

Nevada hosts Air Force, Mar. 15-17 to get conference play underway. The Pack plays at New Mexico and hosts Fresno State in the first month of the MW season. Non-conference single games at San Francisco and St. Mary’s College will also be played in March.

Three of Nevada’s four MW series in the April will be played on the road. The Pack is at San Diego State and UNLV the first two weekends before hosting New Mexico followed by a trip to Air Force. San Francisco, UC Davis, Pacific and Sacramento State will play single Tuesday games at Peccole Park in April.

An eight-game homestand, the longest of the season, begins with the Tuesday game with Sacramento State. The homestand continues into May with three-games with San Diego State, a single contest with St. Mary’s and three with UNLV to conclude the home schedule.

The Pack close out the regular season at Fresno State then returns to play the MW Tournament at Pete Beiden Field May 22-26 in Fresno, Calif.

The 2013 squad returns six starters and the entire weekend rotation that includes the 2012 WAC Pitcher of the Year Bradey Shipley. Shipley was 9-4 with a 2.20 ERA a year ago as a sophomore. Righty Tom Jameson, a first-team All-WAC selection, returns for his senior season after posting a 7-2 record with a 2.55 ERA last year.

Senior outfielder Brooks Klein is back after earning first-team All-WAC honors a year ago. Klein batted .335 with 42 RBI and a team-high eight home runs. First baseman Kewby Meyer was a freshman All-America selection and second-team All-WAC pick last season after hitting .324 with 34 RBI.
