FROM NCBWA RELEASE
DALLAS, Texas – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continued its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 15th year with its 2012 weekly surveys. This season’s polls have been circulated from Feb. 20-June 26 following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb.

This is the final poll of the year and ’12, and championship team No. 1 Arizona downed two-time defending CWS champ South Carolina 2-0 in games on June 24-25 to capture its fourth NCAA crown and final No. 1 status.

The poll voters come from 40 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. The final poll has representation by 12 different conferences among the 297 baseball-playing schools in the 2012 NCAA Division I ranks, and four different schools have held down the No. 1 position – Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, and the winning Wildcats. There have been a record 22 separate leagues or DI independents among the Top 30 in the ’12. For more information or to join the NCBWA, please go to www.ncbwa.com.

The preseason 2013 NCBWA DI poll will be released in Jan. 2013 after the pre-’13 NCBWA All-America team is denoted in Dec. 2012.

I would have thought Florida State would have done better this year ….not that they bad at all…. but !!!!

…..a number of surprises this year is the truth …Look at South Dakota State – with the new coach/staff and all they came in near the bottomof the pack of the NCAA rankings …this is with some very good players on the roster . Trouble is up in the SD State Baseball program. North Dakota State was huge this year , with less talent in my opinion . South Dakota played like they were afraid to get benched for making a mistake, wrong move or saying something wrong – fear basically ! …the opposite for North Dakota State . I say this Javar , as I know you follow both closely and other mid west teams…. see you next year !

I still believe in the South Dakota State program ….sure your right , bottom of the pack in the NCAA rankings ….but they have some great players … get them on the same page – then they will zoom !

sorry , cant agree with you … little hope for the team as it stands now , that run on fear and play like they did this year . A major overhaul is needed . The North Dakota model should be used -mabe ??. Look at the bench of the South Dakota State team …even though they were loosing from the start , they never used their young players and kept using there seniors – and loosing . You call this confidance in your teams bench by the coach and staff – afraid not . next year you have a bunch of underplayed players at bats for them …. not the best play . practising them will only get you so far ….playing the young guys on the bench was crtical for SDSU . Oral Roberts ,NDSU and so on in the Summit conf area were using their young guys alot …not SDSU though .I think this is one of the things the team has to work on .

hmmm , ok you have this opinion . But give SDSU a break….new coach bad schedule and so on . the fear thing I dont see … but mabe the boys could bond better . ya sure , oral roberts was a tight team …but thats easy when you win 90% of your games in your conference
