RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Vince Gonzalez said it was the first time in his life that he had hit two triples in a game. Both of them were stand-up triples as well.
Gonzalez’s two triples, a single, two runs and two RBI helped lead the UC Riverside Highlanders to an 8-5 win over Loyola Marymount Wednesday night at the Riverside Sports Complex.
After Riverside finished off the victory, I talked with Gonzalez about his big game.
Gonzalez discussed facing a familiar pitcher in Matt Florer as well as what the Highlanders are playing for the remainder of the season with their postseason aspirations quashed already. He also said that even though he’s the only Riverside batter hitting north of .300, he doesn’t feel like there’s any extra pressure on him:
