RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Loyola Marymount misplayed two fly balls that went for triples and fluffed a potential double play ground ball in an 8-5 loss to UC Riverside Wednesday night at the Riverside Sports Complex.
The first misplayed triple led to two runs in the second inning rather than being the third out and the error in the third inning could have been an inning-ending double play. Instead, Riverside scored three runs in the inning to take a 6-3 lead that they would not relent.
After the disappoint loss, I talked with Loyola Marymount head coach Jason Gill about the loss and his team’s four-game non-conference slide.
Gill discussed how it will be tough for his team to bounce back after four consecutive losses, but that it has to be done. He also talks about LMU’s huge series coming up this weekend against San Diego:
