RIVERSIDE, Calif. — When UC Riverside first baseman Vince Gonzalez pulled in to third base with his second stand-up triple of the game, the first thought in his head was that he was one triple shy of the NCAA record.
Gonzalez’s three hits and two RBI and Kevin Davidson’s two hits and three RBI led the Highlanders (17-26) to an 8-5 win against Loyola Marymount (21-22) Wednesday night at the Riverside Sports Complex.
Gavin Mills picked up his first win of the season with 3 2/3 scoreless innings pitched and Ben Doucette collected his third save of the season, getting the final four outs.
