LOS ANGELES — Junior right-hander Joey Wagman was stellar on the mound, pitching seven scoreless innings and allowing only three hits to help lead Cal Poly to an easy 9-1 victory over Loyola Marymount Friday afternoon at Page Stadium.
Wagnman improved to 2-0 on the season after he gave up only three hits and three walks. He displayed a great mix of his four-pitch arsenal and the Mustang bats gave him plenty support.
The Mustangs knocked around LMU’s pitching with a 13-hit barrage led by their No. 8 hitter Jimmy Allen. The sophomore third baseman went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer. Shortstop Mike Miller also recorded a multi-hit game for Cal Poly while Loyola Marymount centerfielder Zac Fujimoto had two of the Lions’ three hits.
The two teams will continue the series with a doubleheader beginning at 10 AM Saturday morning.
