Hello Everyone,
Well last weekend didn’t go exactly the way we had wanted it to… We dropped two one-run games at William & Mary and then finally came out with our first W in game three. Luckily for us, we are right back at it down at Charleston, SC starting tonight against the Cougars. Tomorrow we face conference rival Xavier and then finish up the weekend against regional rival UConn.
Against William and Mary our pitching was awesome. All three starters did a great job, especially sophomore Kevin Lee who was solid in his first career start on Saturday. In game two of Saturday’s doubleheader, Anthony Pisani, one of our senior captains, put the team on his back and propelled us to victory. In addition to our starting pitching, our bullpen was flawless surrendering just one hit and no runs over a combined 9.1 innings. They kept us in every game and we had a chance to win at the end. Junior Mike Bradstreet shut the door in game three, getting crucial outs when we needed them.
Our offense, however, did not perform as expected. We struggled early on but found a way to win in game three. Nothing came easy last weekend, but that’s just the game of baseball sometimes. I’m proud of the way we put those struggles behind us and put in a good week of practice. We couldn’t be more excited to swing the sticks this weekend and show what we can do.
Shout outs to a couple of my teammates from Bourne, Travis Jankowski and Pat Cantwell, who play for Stony Brook. They are opening up at Alabama State tonight. Also to my childhood teammates Ricky Salvucci (Northeastern) and Scotty Warwick (Fairfeild) who also kick off the 2012 campaign tonight. Good luck fellas!
Until Next Time,
Mike Le Bel
