Here are some of my quick thoughts from games played on February 18th.
One of the things heading into the weekend that I wanted to see was how dominate Marcus Stroman would be with the Duke Blue Devils as a starting pitcher. He was far from dominant in his first start of the year on Saturday, lasting only five innings giving up three runs on four hits and six walks against the Texas Longhorns. I still believe he will be a great reliever but doesn’t have the type of stuff to be a starting pitcher but that is just my opinion. The Blue Devils ended up losing that game 4-0 in seven innings before dropping the nightcap 5-3.
The Kansas Jayhawks picked up an impressive 2-0 victory over the Belmont Bruins behind a strong start from Thomas Taylor who gave up three hits and two walks while working 8.1 scoreless innings. Jordan Jakubov got the save getting the final two outs of the game giving up a hit.
Purdue senior RHP Lance Breedlove went seven innings giving up only two hits while dominating the Cincinnati lineup by striking out 11. Closer Nick Wittgren got the save by striking out two of the three hitters he faced in the ninth.
Sophomore RHP Tanner Mendonca from Sacramento State pitched a complete game five hitter as the Hornets picked up a 2-0 victory over Cal-State Northridge.
The Boston College Eagles completed a perfect weekend on Saturday by defeating James Madison 8-5 before beating Coastal Carolina 8-3. The Eagles were selected to finish last in the highly competitive ACC this season, could this mean that they were underrated? We should see.

I think that BC is much better then people gave them credit for.
4 5th seniors 6 seniors and Juniors who have played thru both both good and bad times make them one of the most experienced teams.
There pitchers were very good this weekend especially there middle relief which is key to winning games in the ACC
The pitching was my major question mark this year with the Eagles….They had nearly a 6 ERA and lost their top two starting pitchers in Mike Dennhardt and John Leonard from last year’s squad plus reliever Garrett Smith.
