ASHEVILLE, N.C. – A game at McCormick Field with UNC Chapel Hill plus a road date with defending national champion South Carolina highlights the 2012 UNC Asheville baseball schedule that was announced by Bulldog head coach Tom Smith today.
The 55-game schedule features 25 home games with two of those games at McCormick Field. The Bulldogs will host Western Carolina at McCormick on March 13 and then welcome the Tar Heels to Asheville for the first time ever on May 15.
“We have an ambitious schedule but it is a schedule I believe we can compete with,” declared Smith. “I like the number of home games we have this season. We were away a lot last year and that’s not the case in 2012.”
Smith is pleased to be bringing the Tar Heels to McCormick Field.
“I really appreciate UNC head coach Mike Fox agreeing to come to Asheville,” stated Smith. “That’s very kind of him and playing them should be a great experience for our team.”
