LOS ANGELES – The UCLA baseball program has named Seth Moir as its Director of Operations, as announced Wednesday by head coach John Savage. Moir spent the 2011 baseball season working for the New York Yankees.

Moir has gained extensive experience working in both baseball operations and scouting the past three years.

“Seth brings experience to our program, having worked with several organizations in Major League Baseball,” Savage said. “He has tremendous passion for this position, and we’re looking forward to having him in our program.”

Serving an internship with the Yankees in 2011, Moir was responsible for multiple projects in baseball operations, scouting and video breakdown at the organization’s Spring Training facility in Tampa, Fla. He assisted the team’s scouting department, wrote preliminary scouting reports, worked with coaches on player evaluations and compiled data and video to assist with the MLB Draft.

In 2009 and 2010, Moir served in various capacities with the Spokane Indians, a class-A minor league affiliate of the Texas Rangers in the Northwest League. He served as the team’s Director of Stadium Operations both seasons.

During his senior year at Montana State, Moir worked as a sports writer for the Billings Gazette, writing columns and articles about professional, collegiate and prep sports. He graduated from Montana State in May 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in public relations.
